Establishment of

Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence

ScSB 2021

Event date: 28-10-2020

Official update from the ScSB Organizing Committee:
The Scandinavian Society for Biomaterials annual meeting (ScSB) has been postponed to 14th-16th June 2021.

Due to the escalating situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) around the world and the global restrictions regarding travel and event organisation, the Organizing Committee has taken the difficult decision to postpone the Scandinavian Society for Biomaterials conference (ScSB), which was scheduled to take place in Jurmala, Latvia from 28th – 30th October 2020.

The ScSB 2021 will now take place from 14th – 16th June 2021 in Jurmala, Latvia. All accepted oral/poster presentations will automatically be placed on the ScSB 2021 program. Detailed ScSB 2021 scientific program will be available in Spring 2021 via website: https://bbcentre.eu/.

Done so far and next steps:
81 abstracts have been accepted. Represented 19 countries: the abstract authors from Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, The Netherlands, UK, Belgium, The United States of America and Turkey. Each of the submitted abstract was independently and carefully reviewed by members of the ScSB 2021 Scientific Committee. All abstracts were assessed by the same scientific criteria.

TOPIC:

The topic of the conference will be dedicated to “Customized Solutions” in any kind of areas connected with biomaterials. This can be related to, e.g., in vitro and in vivo models for specific applications, chemical composition and structure of implant materials, drug delivery systems and applications in clinic.

VENUE OF THE CONFERENCE:

The beautiful city Jūrmala at the coast of Baltic sea.

VISIT JŪRMALA:

Jūrmala is surrounded by water from two sides - the city's southern side borders with the coasts of the Lielupe River for 30 kilometres, but the city's northern edge - with the Gulf of Riga for 26 kilometres. Jūrmala's beach, slightly over 24 km in length, is formed of fine white silica sand, which has been brought here by the coastal stream over thousands of years. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN IN SPRING 2021.
